Our new website went live on 17 October. If you have visited www.selectgroup.co.uk since, you will have noticed it looks nothing like it used to. It is a complete rebuild: new design, new words, new pages and a much simpler setup behind the scenes.
What’s new
- A clear page for each thing we do. Managed IT support, cyber security and bespoke software, with a page for each service underneath.
- Real case studies with named clients. Odlings Group and Beetroot Consulting, in their own words.
- Our Google reviews, republished word for word.
- The people you will actually speak to, on the About page.
- Pages for the towns we cover across Hull and East Yorkshire.
Why we rebuilt it
The honest answer is that the old site did not say much. Its headline offered to “empower your business with cutting-edge IT & software solutions”, which could have been written about any IT company anywhere. It also still listed a service we no longer offer. So we started again.
Say plainly what we do. One local team runs your IT, secures it and builds the business software off-the-shelf packages cannot. That should be the first thing you read, and now it is.
Only say what we can back up. Every statistic on the site has its source next to it, every testimonial carries a real name, and where we did not have the evidence, we left the claim out. When we say our median first response is 36 minutes, that comes from our own service desk data for the 90 days to 16 October.
Practise the security we sell. The site is plain static pages, with no logins and no database for anyone to break into. It sends strict security headers, sets no cookies of its own and loads no trackers, video players or social media widgets. The only outside service on it is our enquiry form, and that only loads on pages that have one.
Be quick and easy to use on any screen. A typical page carries about 3KB of JavaScript, so pages load quickly, phones included. Every text and background colour pairing is checked for contrast, so it is easy to read.
Make the next step obvious. Every page ends with one clear thing to do, whether that is a free check or a phone call.
Keep it up to date. The words now live in simple files we can edit ourselves, so new pages and posts like this one no longer need a web developer.
What you can do on it now
- Book a free IT review. It is the button at the top of every page.
- Get help if you are already a client. The Service desk link raises or checks a ticket, and the Remote support button starts a session when one of our engineers asks you to.
- Chat to us live. Use the chat button on any page to talk to the team during office hours.
- Send us a message. The form on the contact page comes straight to us, and we come back to you the same working day wherever we can.
Free ways to find out where you stand
None of these commit you to anything.
- Free Microsoft 365 health check. A read-only check of your security, licences and backups, with a plain-English report and a walk-through call.
- Free staff phishing test. See how your team does against a realistic phishing email.
- Free switching review. If you are thinking about changing IT provider, we look at what you have, what your contract says and whether moving is worth it.
- Free AI acceptable use policy and free AI risk check, for businesses whose staff are already using AI tools.
If a customer or a tender is asking for Cyber Essentials, we also do Cyber Essentials at a fixed price: we check your setup against the five controls, fix what fails and get you through certification.
